CBAM<\/b> stands for the <\/span>Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism<\/b>. It is a cornerstone of the <\/span>“Fit for 55”<\/b> package under the <\/span>European Green Deal<\/b>, designed to achieve the European Union’s ambitious goal of <\/span>Net Zero Emissions by 2050<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

On April 18, 2023, the European Parliament officially approved the CBAM regulation. The implementation is divided into two major phases:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The Transitional Period (October 1, 2023 \u2013 December 31, 2025):<\/b> During this phase, importers are required to report the quantity of imported goods and the <\/span>Embedded Emissions<\/b> generated during the production process.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Full Implementation (Starting January 1, 2026):<\/b> Importers will be legally mandated to purchase <\/span>CBAM Certificates<\/b> corresponding to the actual carbon emissions embedded in their imported products.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Scope of Affected Goods<\/b><\/h3>\n

    Currently, the CBAM measures cover <\/span>seven primary categories<\/b>:<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Aluminium<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Iron & Steel<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Cement<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Fertilizer<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Electricity<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Hydrogen<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Other Downstream Products (e.g., screws and bolts made of iron\/steel)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

      Future Outlook:<\/b> It is anticipated that <\/span>Organic Chemicals and Polymers<\/b> will be included between 2026 and 2027.
